The Dakar 4x4.
What it is and what's required to build or buy one.

What is it?
The Dakar 4x4 is a kit-car and it is built on the rolling chassis of a leading four wheel drive manufacturer. Using the chassis, engine, suspension and four wheel drive system of the Range Rover. The Dakar 4x4 combines the mechanical excellence of the Range Rover with Radical new styling to create a vehicle for any environment, be that about town, on the motorway or off road.

What makes a suitable Donor vehicle?
The kit is built to fit directly to the chassis of any Range Rover 'Classic' of 2540mm (100 inch) wheelbase or Discovery Series 1. The better condition the Donor vehicle is the better, a rusted out un roadworthy donor may cost next to nothing, but refurbishment and repair costs will be high.

Can I use it on the road?
The Dakar kit is fully road legal and meets all the current UK legislation applicable to the donor vehicle it is based on.

What happens when it rains?
Rain is a product of the condensation of atmospheric water vapour that is deposited on the earth's surface. It forms when separate drops of water fall to the Earth's surface from clouds.

No... I mean will I get wet in the Dakar?
Full wet weather equipment is available for the Dakar, be that a vinyl 'soft top' or full fibre glass 'hard top', as well as four removable lift off doors. Alternatively, buy a rain coat and hat.

Can I build a Dakar on my Suzuki, Bronco, Land Rover... ?
With enough ingenuity and skill with an angle grinder and a welder anything is possible, however we only directly support the recommended donor vehicles.

Can I import a Dakar to France, America, Iceland.... ?
Shipping is available worldwide at the customers expense, however you will need to ascertain if your local road traffic laws allow the use of the Dakar legally on your road system. In the UK the vehicle often continues to be classed as the donor vehicle type since most of it remains part of the completed Dakar.

Can you source me a Donor vehicle?
Yes, if you specify your requirements on Engine type and size, as well as transmission preference and either a left hand or right hand driving position.

Can I build one?
Dakar's can be supplied in kit form with a full build manual for customer assembly, partly assembled with the Donor already stripped and the roll cage & body in place for the customer to complete, or fully built and trimmed to the customers specifications.

Ok, I still want one, what colours are available?
The standard body shell  comes with it's base colour from the pigment in the fibre glass' gel coat covering, off the shelf colours are Blue, Black, White, Red, Yellow and Green, but any other colour is available at an extra cost. Metallic and glitter finishes are possible but require the bodywork to be painted, again this is at extra cost.
